Colombian operator BetPlay has become the first entity to offer a legal poker platform in the country courtesy of a joint venture between Italtronic and ESA Gaming

Asserting that it’s “thrilled to have the unique opportunity to be able to offer this product to an avant-garde and rapidly growing audience,” BetPlay becomes the first operator in the jurisdiction to offer ESA Gaming’s poker product including Texas hold’em, Omaha and tournaments.

Ramon Monrós, CEO of Italtronic, noted: “Italtronic is very satisfied with this joint-venture for the development of poker and hopes that it will soon be extended to other operators in Colombia and other Latin American countries.”

In a media release it is said that the games have already generated “great” interest since the launch and that numbers of new customer sign-ups has exceeded initial expectations.

Zorica Smallwood, CEO at ESA Gaming, said: “We are delighted to have signed this agreement in Latin America with BetPlay, one of the best-established operators in the region.

“Our products continue to gain support due to their innovative position within the market, and we hope to grow significantly in this jurisdiction in the coming months.”

With LatAm hot on the agenda and Colombia proving itself as the regional posterchild for regulation done correctly, CasinoBeats sat down with some of the continent’s leading gaming suppliers last month to talk through the latest on market developments – as well as the ongoing effects of lockdown.

Across a two-part special we caught up with Vera Motto, business development executive at Habanero, Ruben Loeches, CMO at R Franco Group, Sebastian Damian, commercial director at Booongo, Alessandro Sposito, commercial director at ESA Gaming and Unai Concha Olabarrieta, business development manager at OneTouch, to get their thoughts.
