Online casino operator Videoslots has “underlined its commitment to safer gambling” after detailing the adoption of the Freja eID tool across the Nordics.

In a media release it was commented that the Freja eID app “goes beyond all the legal verification requirements of gambling brands in the region while also making the sign-up process much easier for new players thanks to a completely digital procedure”.

In addition to checking a player’s age and location, the app handles other sensitive data for the operator and gives players a complete overview of what is stored, as well as their own detailed user history.

“The agreement with Videoslots in the Nordics shows Freja eID can be the iGaming industry’s key to fast customer on-boarding, KYC, payments, increased customer interaction and global scalability,” noted Johan Henrikson, CEO of Verisec.

“An e-ID is about much more than meeting regulatory requirements. It’s about the user experience and customer loyalty which is becoming increasingly important in a digitalised world.”

Last month Videoslots became the latest firm to triumph in a battle to secure a Swedish licence for the maximum five-year period, after regulator Spelinspektionen initially awarded a two-year green light.

Overturned by the Administrative Court in Linköping, it was said that the decision was made to issue a shorter licence due to the firm having been subject to “penalties for its gaming operations in the UK”.

Ulle Skottling, COO at Videoslots.com, said of the new link-up: “We believe gambling should be safe and simple as well as fun. Freja eID will help us ensure we protect players and respect their data both on sign-up and while they enjoy our casino.

“We invest a lot of time and resources into ensuring we not only comply with regulatory requirements but surpass them and this new tool will be implemented in order to attain the highest standards.”
