Continuing CasinoBeats‘ series of updates from SlotCatalog‘s SlotRank leaderboard, which highlights the popularity of online slots based on casino lobby position, this week looks at Playtech’s big week in Italy.

This week saw Playtech secure four positions in the top ten in Italy, as it continues to fight it out for top spot with big guns such as NetEnt and Play’n Go

The positions in the SlotRank leaderboard are calculated on a daily basis by scanning the lobby positions of hundreds of online slot titles across hundreds of online casinos in a wide range of markets.

Playtech’s Buffalo Blitz has climbed to no. 4, while Big Blue remains a big hit with players six years after its release, rounding up the top five.

In fact, it is a typical feature of the SlotRank leaderboard just how many older games remain firm fixtures in casino lobbies across the UK. The Italian market, from the outset, appears to be dominated by the older, classic titles – suggesting that it is much harder for newer titles to break into the slots scene.

Further down the leaderboard, Halloween Fortune remains strong at no. 9 after being released in 2012, while Age of the Gods King of Olympus comes in at no. 10.

Elsewhere in the table, NetEnt‘s Starburst continues to hold pole position while Play‘n Go’s Book of Dead follows close behind at no. 2.
