Sunwing Travel Group and Planet Hollywood Resorts (PH) have announced plans to develop a third Caribbean property, which is set to occupy the beachfront of Great Bay, St. Maarten.

The addition of the latest resort into the portfolio builds upon two previous announcements, which is to begin when an all-inclusive branded resort opens its doors later this year in the Papagayo Gulf of Costa Rica.

This is set to be followed up with a grand opening of its Cancun resort next year, bringing its total expenditure to over $600m as both parties stress a commitment to “bringing the iconic lifestyle brand to key destinations internationally”.

It’s St Maarten property is set to feature a 16,000 ft2 “world-class” casino, with the 450-room resort also set to see a smattering of “authentic Hollywood memorabilia,” along with “world famous dining” options.

Establishing further details which “offer guests the opportunity to vacation like a star,” PH states that in has made “an investment into details from music [to] architecture, to help set the vibe to Hollywood lighting to make sure everyone looks fabulous”.

North American integrated travel company Sunwing signed an agreement with PH earlier this year, with a “vigorous expansion strategy” put forward.

Beginning with the Costa Rica and Cancun developments, marking PH’s first foray into the in-demand luxury all-inclusive category, Robert Earl, Planet Hollywood’s founder and chairman, commented: “The Planet Hollywood brand has always been about delivering unique and memorable experiences that translate into lifelong memories for our guests.

“I am so excited to partner with Sunwing Travel Group, and cannot wait to get started with the first spectacular locations in Costa Rica and Cancun.

“This is the perfect opportunity to bring ‘fame’ a lot closer to all customers, by leveraging Sunwing Travel Group’s proven track record of successfully operating and rapidly expanding premier hotel brands.”
