Pinnacle Entertainment’s Ameristar joins Mississippi sports betting scene

Las Vegas headquartered Pinnacle Entertainment, has announced that its Ameristar Casino Hotel is to join the busy Mississippi sports betting scene today.

Opening the “full service, dedicated sports wagering venue” at the Vicksburg property, Pinnacle, owner of sixteen gaming entertainment businesses across nine US states, has announced that former New Orleans Saints running back Deuce McAllister is to place the ceremonial first wager.

Naming its new sports betting site ‘The End Zone,’ this latest move sees the installation of “the largest full-service sports wagering experience in central Mississippi”.

Anthony Sanfilippo, chief executive officer of Pinnacle Entertainment, commented, “The guests of Pinnacle Entertainment in the Southeastern United States are among the most passionate sports fans in the country.

“We are excited to now have the ability to offer sports wagering to our guests at Ameristar Vicksburg, and to enhance the excitement of viewing live sporting events by combining it with a gaming entertainment experience.

“Pinnacle Entertainment has long offered the guests of its Cactus Petes property in Jackpot, Nevada the ability to place sports wagers. The opening of The End Zone sportsbook at Ameristar Vicksburg represents the company’s first new venue of this type outside of Nevada, following the repeal of the federal ban on sports wagering in May 2018.

“We will continue to work to extend this important strategy to other properties throughout the Pinnacle Entertainment portfolio, as allowed by the other states in which we operate.”

The End Zone is located on the first level of the Ameristar property, with Pinnacle joining the host of other organisations jostling for position in the only Southern US state that currently permits sports wagers.

Featuring a large sports betting viewing area, with a selection of sporting event available on large screen televisions, four service windows enable team members to facilitate its guests.

Pinnacle is to be acquired by Penn National Gaming later this year, with expectations placing the completion of the deal in the fourth quarter.
