Poland takes the Cherry with ninth sports betting licence

Sweden headquartered Cherry AB has announced the latest round of its global expansion strategy, via a manoeuvre into the the Polish sports betting market.

Cherry, who now boasts an approximate 1,400 strong workforce, announces its entry into Poland through its Cherry Online Polska subsidiary, after being granted a sports betting license from the Polish Ministry of Finance.

Becoming the ninth licensed operator in the market, the gaming company is the second such entity to receive a licence under the new gambling regulations.

Patryk Włodarski, a business consultant who was responsible for the application, commented: “We are proud to be the one of the first companies that were granted the licence. Poland is a fully regulated market and since the 2017 amendment to the gambling bill, it became our priority to obtain a licence, allowing us to offer our services online in full respect to the current laws. Now with a company in Warsaw holding a licence, Cherry is in position to introduce its first online sportsbook brand to the Polish customers very soon.”
