NetEnt has today released Jumanji, a video slot title based on Sony Pictures‘ 1995 film of the same name.

The five-reel game combines elements of the classic board game with video slots and unleashes features including a rhino stampede, wild monkeys, sticky vines and monsoons.

In the 1995 film, a long-lost board game has the power to unleash chaos. NetEnt has added its own twist by transforming the calamities that befall lead character Alan Parrish into features with slot mechanics.

The resulting game is a five-reel slot with four random features, a board game with four different free spins, a mystery feature, coins wins and extra dice rolls.

Four instantly recognisable features from the movie are present in the slot, namely the Wild Stampede, where rhinos stampede across the screen while the reels spin; Monkey Mayhem, which awards potential wins when the reels have stopped; Monsoon Wilds, where one or two reels will be completely covered in wilds while the reels spin; and Sticky Vines, for which all symbols that are a part of a win and all Wilds from the initial spin stick to the reels, and all other symbols spin again.

Henrik Fagerlund, chief product officer at NetEnt, said: “The Jumanji movie was a great success and we know it has fans all over the world. Making a slot game true to the fantastic features of the movie has been challenging but most of all great fun.

“We found a way of incorporating both board game features and all the excitement into a slot game and the game has already been well received by players.”
