The damage limitation continues at Wynn Resorts as the company seeks to recover from the reputational fall-out from the Steve Wynn sexual misconduct scandal.

As the Massachusetts Gaming Commission weighs up whether Wynn Resorts is fit to retain its state gaming licence, the gaming and entertainment giant revealed that its $2.5bn development in Everett, Massachusetts, is to be renamed as Encore Boston Harbor.

Wynn Resorts hopes that deploying the Encore brand and dropping the Wynn name from the project will, in addition to Steve Wynn’s departure from his CEO role, give the commission sufficient confidence in the company to permit it to remain as the licensee for the under-construction Everett scheme.

Steve Wynn continues to deny the allegations levelled at him and this week launched a defamation lawsuit against a former stylist and Wynn employee, reports the Wall Street Journal.

It is alleged by Steve Wynn that Jorgen Nielsen, a former artistic director of the Wynn Las Vegas salon, has publicly smeared the mogul by spreading false accusations of alleged sexual misconduct.
