“Swedish, but exciting” – Betsson’s Spanish TV ad challenges stereotype

Sweden-based online gambling operator Betsson Group launched its first TV campaign on Spanish television last Friday, drawing attention to its Betsson.es operation with a play on an old stereotype.

Presenting Betsson.es to the Spanish audience as “Swedish, but exciting,” the TV commercial features a naked swimmer in a frozen lake in Sweden.

“Bad things happen when you’re bored,” intones the voice-over, “that’s why we Swedes have created the world’s most exciting online betting and casino websites.”

Andrea Rossi, Betsson Group’s managing director for Southern Europe and Latin America, said: “We hope our Spanish audience likes this campaign as much as we do. Betsson is our flagship brand and we are all about customer entertainment.

“We want Betsson.es to be the biggest entertainer in the Spanish market. We launched earlier this year and we are now introducing the brand to the wider Spanish audience as a Swedish market leader, a trustworthy online gambling operator and an expert in entertainment.”

Last February, Spanish customers saw the launch of the new brand Betsson.es, giving them access to a wide range of online gaming products including live casino from Playtech and Evolution, online slots and a competitive sportsbook offering 4,000 sports betting channels for the pre-match and live betting markets.

The group entered the Spanish market in March, 2017, following the acquisition of locally-licensed online gaming operator, Premier Casino.
