Filinvest granted licence for $200m Philippines integrated resort

The Filinvest Development Corporation has, with subsidiary Mimosa Cityscapes, been awarded a provisional licence by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation for the development into an intergrated resort of the former USAF Clark Air base near Angeles City.

The Clark Special Economic Zone site is located on the northwest side of Angeles and on the west side of Mabalacat City, around 50 miles northwest of Metro Manila.

In a statement, Filinvest confirmed a US$200m budget for the resort and thanked PAGCOR for the opportunity. “[PAGCOR] has been very efficient and helpful since we submitted our application and all the necessary requirements in 2017,” said L Josephine Yap, president and CEO of FDC.

“We believe that this is a worthy investment,” Yap added. The 201-hectare site will be home to a casino, mall, five-star hotel and an events venue. The project also includes the renovation of the existing Quest Hotel, two golf courses and villas.

Yap said the vision for the site is that it will become the lifestyle destination north of Manilla. “It’s enviable location close to Clark International Airport makes it accessible to both domestic and international tourists.

“It is our intention to work with a leading casino operator who will align with our vision of a premier destination,” said Yap.
